Little Drops of Water

Little Things.
by Ebenezer Cobham Brewer

Little drops of water,
Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean
And the pleasant land.

Thus the little minutes,
Humble though they be,
Make the mighty ages
Of eternity.

Goals for our 2017-2018 Preschool Year

Goals for our 2017-2018 school year:

1. The virtue of obedience.
2. The virtue of attention.
3. The virtue of honesty.
4. Build a family culture around books and conversation
5. Build a family culture around love of Nature
6. Build a family culture around love of, and service to, Christ - founded upon daily prayer.

There are other things I would like to get done.  I would like to see them develop proper scissor skills, I would like to see them master proper pencil grip.  I would like them to buckle their own car seats, and put on their own coats and shoes.  That's not all, and I have a checklist for all that, but if I am honest with myself, if none of it happens this year, I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't feel like we had failed at all.

But if I miss the six above, there would be regret.

The problem is, The Waterbear family has some significant obstacles in its path to achieving those goals.  Obstacles that I don't think other homeschooling families have.  At least, I think they don't.

The object of this blog is to document the ways and means by which we three Waterbears overcome those obstacles on our journey to embrace Truth, Goodness and Beauty and ultimately, Him from which they flow.

First Entry in my Pre-reading Journal

My first entry in my pre-reading journal, a la Celeste from Joyous Lessons .  May it be the first of many.
